What are DR650 Foot Peg Lowering Mounts?

DR650 Foot Peg Lowering Mounts are aftermarket accessories specifically designed for the Suzuki DR650 model to lower the foot pegs by 2 inches compared to the stock position. This modification enhances rider comfort by allowing for a more natural leg positioning and improves overall control of the motorcycle. Lower mounting is particularly beneficial for taller riders or those looking for a custom fit, as it can dramatically impact riding posture and reduce fatigue during long rides.

What models are compatible with the DR650 Foot Peg Lowering Mounts?

These foot peg lowering mounts are designed to fit Suzuki DR650 models manufactured between 1996 and 2024. This extensive compatibility allows a large number of riders to benefit from improved ergonomics and control. If you own any model from this range, you can enhance your riding experience with this product, making it a sought-after upgrade for both casual and serious motorcycle enthusiasts.

How do I install the DR650 Foot Peg Lowering Mounts?

Installing the DR650 Foot Peg Lowering Mounts requires basic mechanical skills and tools such as a socket set and a torque wrench. First, remove the existing foot pegs and mounts, then attach the lowering mounts to the motorcycle frame, followed by securing the foot pegs to the new mounts. Detailed instructions are usually provided with the product, making the installation straightforward. Proper installation ensures stability and safety, allowing you to enjoy a comfortable riding position.

What materials are used in Dango Design's foot peg lowering mounts?

Dango Design’s foot peg lowering mounts are typically crafted from high-strength materials such as aluminum or steel, designed to withstand the rigors of motorcycle riding. These materials provide a durable and robust build that ensures longevity and performance under stress. The quality of materials used not only contributes to their functionality but also enhances safety, which is paramount during rides on varying terrains and conditions.

Are DR650 Foot Peg Lowering Mounts adjustable?

The DR650 Foot Peg Lowering Mounts from Dango Design are specifically designed to lower the foot pegs by a fixed 2 inches beyond the stock height. While they do not feature an adjustable mechanism, the fixed design often provides a more stable and reliable experience. This specific lowering can cater to various rider heights and preferences, providing a targeted ergonomic improvement that’s engineered to enhance performance without the complexities of adjustability.

How can lowering foot pegs improve my riding experience?

Lowering the foot pegs can significantly enhance your riding experience by improving comfort and control. By providing a more relaxed leg position, lower foot pegs can alleviate strain on your knees and hips during prolonged rides. This adjustment also aids in better weight distribution and balance on the motorcycle, particularly when maneuvering through challenging terrains. Riders often report less fatigue and improved handling when using lowered foot pegs.

Can I use the DR650 Foot Peg Lowering Mounts for off-road riding?

Yes, the DR650 Foot Peg Lowering Mounts are ideally suited for off-road riding, as they help create a more stable and balanced riding posture. Riders engaged in off-road adventures benefit from enhanced control over their motorcycle, allowing for better maneuverability when navigating rocks or uneven trails. The increased comfort from lowered foot positioning also reduces fatigue, enabling you to enjoy longer rides in challenging conditions.

Are there any potential drawbacks to lowering foot pegs?

While lowering foot pegs can offer many benefits like improved comfort and control, some potential drawbacks include reduced ground clearance during cornering, which could lead to scraping in aggressive turns. Additionally, shorter riders may not find a significant benefit, so proper fitment should be considered before installation. It’s essential to assess your riding style and terrain preference to determine if this modification aligns with your needs.

What tools do I need for installing the DR650 Foot Peg Lowering Mounts?

To install the DR650 Foot Peg Lowering Mounts, you will generally need a standard socket set, including metric sizes, and possibly a torque wrench to ensure proper tightening of bolts. Additional tools may include a flat-head screwdriver for prying or adjusting components. Having the right tools will streamline the installation process, ensuring that you can securely attach the mounts without issues.

Dango Design Foot Pegs 210001 Editorial Review

The DR650 Footpeg Lowering Mounts are an excellent product. They are made of high-quality materials and are strong and sturdy. These footpeg lowering mounts make riding more comfortable and the shifter is in a better spot. The brake, on the other hand, needs to be adjusted carefully to avoid contact with the footpeg mounts. Nonetheless, if you buy these mounts, be prepared to spend more because the brake pedal might not work correctly, and you may need to get a curved brake pedal, which can be quite expensive.
